NEW EXPERIMENTS CONDUCTED UNDER DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME
Participating Students:
UG Semester-VI (Zoology Honours, Botany program, Zoology Program), UG Semester-IV (Botany Honours)
Outcome:
The sample used was Hibiscus rosa-sinensis pollens. Students learnt the process of acetolysis and study the same through microscopy.
UG Semester-III Chemistry Program, UG Semester-III Botany Program, UG Semester-III Zoology Program, UG Semester-I Botany
Students learnt the technique of separation of plastidal pigments by Thin Layer Chromatography and also learnt the basic aspects of thin layer chromatography
Participating Students:
UG Semester-V Botany Honours, UG Semester-I Botany Students
Outcome:
The bacterial smears were observed under microscopic field. Vegetative cells stained red and the spores stained green. Few cells with endospores were observed.
Participating Students:
UG Semester-V Botany Honours, UG Semester-I Botany Students
Outcome:
Numerous cells were observed under low magnification (100X). A number of metaphase plates with scattered chromosomes were observed. A particular metaphase plate was focused and observed under high magnification (400X). The number of chromosomes was counted and the plate was drawn with free hand. The somatic chromosome complement of Allium cepa was observed to consist of 2n = 16 chromosomes.
Participating Students:
UG Semester-I Zoology Honours, Semester-I Program, UG Semester-V Honours
Outcome:
Students learnt the preparation of tissue homogenate and measured the amount of protein present in the liver and the gut samples from the standard graph.
Participating Students:
UG Zoology Honours and Program students
Outcome:
Students studied and prepared project on the earthworm anatomy
Participating Students:
UG Semester-III, Semester-I and Semester-V Zoology Honours
Outcome:
Students learnt the concept of species composition in an ecosystem and the significance of ecosystems with greater diversity being more productive
Participating Students:
UG Semester-I and Semester-II (Chemistry Honours)
Outcome:
Students estimated the amount of glucose present in Glucon D purchased from market and recorded their findings in practical notebook
Participating Students:
UG Semester-I and Semester-II (Chemistry Honours)
Outcome:
Students estimated the amount of Vitamin C present through iodometric estimation in locally available fruits and vegetables
Participating Students:
