    • Acetolysis of Spore and Pollen(Organizing Department: Botany) (2022-23)

Participating Students:

Outcome:

The sample used was Hibiscus rosa-sinensis pollens. Students learnt the process of acetolysis and study the same through microscopy.

  • Plastidal Pigments Separation by Thin Layer Chromatography”(Organizing Department: Botany) (2022-23)

Outcome:

Students learnt the technique of separation of plastidal pigments by Thin Layer Chromatography and also learnt the basic aspects of thin layer chromatography

  • Endospore Staining “(Organizing Department: Botany) (2022-23)

Outcome:

The bacterial smears were observed under microscopic field. Vegetative cells stained red and the spores stained green. Few cells with endospores were observed.

  • Study of Mitotic Chromosomes of Allium cepa “(Organizing Department: Botany) (2022-23)

Outcome:

Numerous cells were observed under low magnification (100X). A number of metaphase plates with scattered chromosomes were observed. A particular metaphase plate was focused and observed under high magnification (400X). The number of chromosomes was counted and the plate was drawn with free hand. The somatic chromosome complement of Allium cepa was observed to consist of 2n = 16 chromosomes.

  • Estimation of total protein contents in different tissues of Labeo rohita (Organizing Department: Zoology) (2022-23)

Outcome:

Students learnt the preparation of tissue homogenate and measured the amount of protein present in the liver and the gut samples from the standard graph.

Students estimated the amount of glucose present in Glucon D purchased from market and recorded their findings in practical notebook

Outcome:

Students estimated the amount of Vitamin C present through iodometric estimation in locally available fruits and vegetables

Outcome:

Students learnt to prepare TLC plates, give spots and measure the RF values. Mixture of benzoin and benzil were studied for used in different solvents.
