Durgapur Government College was established in 1970. Just three years after the college was established, in 1973, the Department of Physics starts its journey to fulfil the growing demands of the students of surrounding locality to learn physics. For almost a four decade, the Department has distinguished itself as the best place to study Physics in Asansol-Durgapur industrial belt. Over the years, the Department has produced successful outstanding graduates who held the positions of leadership in various professions. The Department hopes that students will develop a keen interest in the subject and contribute to the educational life of the nation.
