DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT

Establishment:

Department of Bengali was established in 1970. Bengali was taught as a General Course in 1970. Undergraduate Honours Course was introduced from the next academic session in 1971.

Programmes Offered

The Department presently offers the following programmes under the affiliation of Kazi Nazrul University:

• B.A. Honours in Bengali (4 Year)
• B.A. in Bengali(3 Year)

Add on Courses

The Department has also started offering Add on Courses for students of all Departments since the academic session 2023-2024.

• Add on Course on “RABINDRA JIBONER NANA DIK”
• Add on Course on “GALPO BOLA, KATHA O BARTAR KRITYAKAUSHAL” (09-07-2024 to 30-09-2024)

Teaching, Learning and Evaluation

Department of Bengali, Durgapur Government College is one of the best centres of learning of the local language in the entire district of Paschim Bardhaman. The Department ensures a friendly cohesion between teachers and students. Students always feel free to communicate with the teachers in the department regarding various aspects of their studies. Every year, students of the department actively participate in the college annual exhibition and have also won prizes in interdepartmental exhibitions and poster competitions. Wall magazines are regularly published by the department. Students of this department have been placed in reputed universities of West Bengal.
