Aryan Shah accomplished his B.Sc.
(Honours) from the Department of Chemistry, Durgapur Government College in 2023.
He successfully cleared the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) in 2024,
securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 99. He was ranked 99 among 14340 candidates
appeared in the Test paper. He received the offer letter from IIT Madras for
M.Sc. in Chemistry.
Ranjan Biswas (2020-2023 batch) of History
Program was awarded first prize in the Javelin Throw (Boys) in Durgapur
Government College Annual Sports Meet 2022. He also bagged the first prize in
Javelin Throw (Men) in Inter College District Sports and Games championship in
February 2023, followed by Annual Inter-College Athletic Meet 2023 organized by
Kazi Nazrul University. He also came first in Javelin in the Inter
Sub-Divisional Athletic Championship 2023 organized by Burdwan District
Sports Association.
Tanmoy Santra (2020-2023 batch) of Bengali
Program has excellent skills in different athletic sports, where he grabbed the
first prize in High Jump, Second Prize in 100 Mts, Run and third Prize in long
Jump events of Annual Sports meet of Durgapur Government College in December
2022. He also excelled in javelin throw (men) and stood first in the Inter
Sub-Divisional Athletics Championship in March 2023 as well as Annual
Inter-College Athletic Meet 2023 organized by Kazi Nazrul University
on 19.02.2023. He continued to excel in his genre and grabbed the first prize in
Discuss Throw (Men) in the Inter College District Sports & Games
Championship, 2022-23 in February
Anwesha Tudu (2021-2024 batch) of Physics
Program grabbed the first prize in Javeline Throw (Girls) and Shot Put (Girls)
in the Annual Sports meet of Durgapur Government College in December 2022. She
also came first in javelin Throw (60Kg) in the Inter Sub-Divisional Athletics
Championship, March 2022.
Anal Sarkar (2022-2025 batch) of English
Program has bagged several prizes in National, regional and college games and
sports activities. His accolades include first prize in Discuss and Shot Put and
second prize in Javelin throw in Annual sports meet of Durgapur Governemnt
College in December, 2022. He also grabbed the second prize in Discuss Throw
(Men) in Inter College District Sports and Games Championship 2022 as well as
first prize in Discuss Throw in Annual Inter-College Athletic
Meet 2023 of Kazi Nazrul University. Apart from his great athletics skills he is
also a rank 1 (SHO) Dan Black Belt from All India Ashihara Karate Organization.
He won the gold medal in the 75+ weight category in 4th Ptako Open All India
karate Championshio in September 2022. He also excelled in powerlifting and came
second in 93 Kg Junior West Bengal State Powerlifting Championship in July, 2022
Niladri Shekhar Saha, undergraduate
student of Geology Honours of Durgapur Government College secured all India rank
(AIR) of 431 and progressed to National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, at
the Post Graduate Level.
Megha Chakraborty, undergraduate student
of Geology Honours of Durgapur Government College secured all India rank (AIR)
of 301 and progressed to Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research at
the Post Graduate Level.
Mukul Dey, undergraduate student of
Geology Honours of Durgapur Government College secured all India rank (AIR) of
99 and progressed to Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines),
Dhanbad at the Post Graduate Level.
Sreejata Das, undergraduate student of
Geology Honours of Durgapur Government College secured all India rank (AIR) of
31 and progressed to Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines),
Dhanbad at the Post Graduate Level.
Sanjukta Chel, undergraduate student of
Geology Honours of Durgapur Government College secured all India rank (AIR) of
18 and progressed to Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay at the Post Graduate
Level.
Lakshmi Dhibar (2021-2024 batch) Sanskrit
Honours. She was awarded first prize in the High Jump event(Women-23)and second
prize in the triple jump event(Girls-23) in Durgapur Sub-Divisional Sports
Association Annual Athletic Meet 2023. She also won second place in the High
Jump (Women U 23) in the Inter Sub-Divisional Athletic Championship 2023
organized by Burdwan District Sports Association. She also won first prize in
the Long Jump event and also in the High Jump event in the Annual
Inter-College Athletic Meet 2023 organized by Kazi Nazrul University.
Urmila Ghosh accomplished her B.Sc.
(Honours) from the Department of Chemistry, Durgapur Government College in 2023.
She successfully cleared the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) in 2023,
securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 64. She is currently pursuing her Master’s
in chemistry at IIT Kanpur. She received offer letters from several institutes
such as as IISER ,NISER etc.
Arijit Dey accomplished his B.Sc.
(Honours) from the Department of Chemistry at Durgapur Government College in
2023. Additionally, he successfully cleared the Joint Admission Test for Masters
(JAM) in 2023, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 209, and secured a spot to
pursue his M.Sc. in Chemistry at IIT Guwahati.
Somnath Bahadur, a student of Philosophy
Program of Durgapur Government College won the 23 rd West Bengal State Kick
Boxing Championship 2022, while he was studying in Semester-II in 2022 . He
secured the first position and won the Gold medal, the Cup and was awarded the
Certificate of Honor. Somnath aspires to play for India as a Kick Boxing
Champion.

three (3) scoring 84.33 marks out of 100 and he was selected to pursue his M.Sc.
in Applied Geology in IIT Bombay.

seven (7) scoring 86.33 marks out of 100 and she was selected to pursue her
M.Sc. (Tech) in Applied Geology in IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. While studying at
Durgapur Government College, she got the runner up award in the Geo Debate of
National meet of AAPG Student Chapter, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
He was awarded Governor’s silver Medal for
“Best NCC Cadet” of 2018-2019. He also won medals in National Shooting
Championship for 50M Rifle Prone Junior Men (ISSF) Civilian Championship (Team)
and in the State Shooting championship with Score 538/600, 50mtr Rifle Prone,
JR. Men (Rank-14th) Score 538/600, 3P JR. Men (Rank-2nd). He was posted in Indo
Tibetian Border Police Force.
Durgapur Government College in 2019. He
has presented papers in several national and international seminars. He stood
third in poster presentation on Celebration of International day for Biological
Diversity organised by Department of Botany, Sidho Kanho-Birsha University,
Purulia and West Bengal Biodiversity Board ,Kolkata on 22nd May 2018. Some of
his presented papers are “Reduce ,Reuse and Recycle Industrial Air Pollutants”,
“Innovative approach towards sustainable development”,
“Biodiversity conservation is a need not a formality”,” It’s time to change to
be cruelty free ,animal free and chemical free”. He is the member of
International Society of Environmental Botanists and executive member of
Wildlife Information and Nature Guide Society. While studying at Durgapur
Government College, he published two book chapters in the book “Environmental
and Sustainable Development through forestry and other resources” published by
Apple academic Press. CRC Press, A
Taylor & Francis Group. He was selected to pursue M.Sc. in Botany from West
Bengal State University in 2019.
Durgapur Government College were awarded
first prize in the Quiz content organized on the occasion of “169th Foundation
Day Celebration of Geological Survey of India” organized by Geological Society
of India (GSI), Kolkata in May 2019.
