DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME

The DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME is a scheme of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, to support colleges and universities offering undergraduate education with the objective to improve science teaching across the country. Durgapur Government College received the prestigious DBT STAR COLLEGE SCHEME grant in November 2022 for six science departments, namely,

  1. Botany
  2. Chemistry
  3. Geology
  4. Mathematics
  5. Physics
  6. Zoology

The scheme has been granted for the tenure of three years and will involve several activities of the institution in line with the stated objectives under the scheme proposal. The scheme will involve summer school and winter school training programmes, workshops, hands on training for undergraduate students, new experiments, seminars, conferences, invited lectures, faculty development programmes, visits to research laboratories of premier institutes and universities, industrial training, outreach activities for local schools and colleges and several other innovative initiatives to promote the undergraduate science teaching of the institution.
